Our Correspondent: In Kalmakanda upazila of Netrokona, a youth named Zahirul Islam (28) was died in a motorcycle (bike) collision with a pickup. He is the son of Helal Uddin of Rangchati village bordering India in the upazila and is a hired bike driver by profession.
On Monday (April 1, 2024), the accident took place on College Road of Kalmakanda upazila around 7:30 am. He was taken to Mymensingh Medical College (MMC) Hospital with serious injuries and the bike rider died at the same day around noon in the MMC Hospital.
According to police and local sources, Zahirul Islam was coming towards Kalmakanda from Rangchati area by riding his bike in the morning. On the way, the bike collided with a pickup coming from the opposite direction in front of Mr. Jorge Mia’s house in an area called Rajapur (College Road).
In this, the biker was crushed under the pickup and seriously injured. Local people rescued Zahirul and brought him to Kalmakanda Health Complex. Suman Pal, the doctor on duty in the emergency department, referred him to MMC Hospital as his condition was critical.
Confirming the truth of this matter, the OC of Kalmakanda police station Mohammad Lutful Haque said that the pickup has been seized. Further legal action is pending.
